Existing current multiplier = 1 / existing power factor

Corrected current ratio = existing power factor / target power factor

  • Target power factor is the planned corrected PF condition.
  • Corrected current ratio compares after-current to before-current for the same kW.

  • Current changes in inverse proportion to power factor for the same real power.
  • The result is a ratio screen, not a capacitor-bank or harmonic study.

Examples

0.75 to 0.95 PF. Improving from 0.75 to 0.95 PF gives an estimated corrected-current ratio of 0.789 and about 21.05 percent current reduction.

Correction workflow. Use this ratio with kVAR, bill-impact, and manufacturer equipment review rather than treating it as a correction design.
