Formula variables
- kW is the real three-phase load entered by the user.
- Voltage is the line-line nominal voltage.
- Power factor is entered as a decimal from greater than zero to 1.
- Amps are preliminary line current before nameplate and equipment review.
Assumptions
- The calculator assumes a balanced three-phase load.
- Power factor is entered by the user and directly affects current.
- The result is a line-current estimate from real power, not a breaker or conductor size.
- This calculator does not size conductors, breakers, disconnects, feeders, or equipment.
Examples
600 V equipment. A 75 kW three-phase load at 600 V and 0.90 PF estimates about 80.2 A.
Load schedule workflow. Use this result as an arithmetic check before using nameplate data, demand assumptions, and project-specific sizing methods.
